The ›fifth season‹ in Germany has arrived and with it, sweet yeast balls are sprouting out of shop windows like mushrooms wherever you look.  Loukoumades, Oliebollen, Krapfen or Sufganiyot - no matter what you call them, you can see them everywhere during carnival season in Germany. These ones are handmade by the bakery ›Brothaus‹ and photographed by our artist Klaus Einwanger. Colorful, sweetly filled yeast dough balls, presented in as many ways as the doughnut varieties themselves.
